Volunteer with Nourish

We are currently accepting volunteers to assist with:

Volunteer opportunities coming soon:

  • Market Square Farmers Market operations (Wednesdays & Saturdays, May – November)
  • New Harvest Farmers Market operations (Thursdays, April – September)

Volunteer Duties:

  • Assist on-site at a farmers’ market:
    • Info Booth (WFM, MSFM, NHFM): assist with booth set-up, customer service, merchandise sales, SNAP/EBT transactions, rule enforcement, sustainability projects (compost & bag share programs), and booth break-down.
    • Community Booth (NHFM): assist with booth set-up, customer service, operation of Nourish Moves (walking program), and booth break-down.
    • Nourish Kids Booth (WFM, MSFM, NHFM): assist with children’s activities at our Nourish Kids Clubs every second Saturday at the WFM & MSFM and every third Thursday at the NHFM.

      *** Farmers’ market volunteer shifts will take place in person, outdoors, rain or shine. Hours and location vary by market.***
  • Assist with special events, such as Friends and Farmers and Winter Warmer. 
    • Guest check-in, coat check, serving, bartending, silent auction support, etc.

      *** Special event volunteer shifts will take place in person at venues in and around Knoxville. Hours, location, and tasks vary by event. ***
  • Assist with East Tennessee Local Food Guide listing updates
    • Call farms and/ or local food businesses to update listings ensuring accurate information for print guide.

      *** Local Food Guide volunteer shifts will take place in person from our offices in downtown Knoxville. Volunteers will need to be available: for 2+ hour block of time at a minimum, Monday – Friday (9 am – 5 pm, any day/time combo within this range), January – February. ***

What to bring when volunteering (at market shifts):

  • Refillable water bottle;
  • Sunscreen, sunglasses, and/or sunhat during the warmer months;
  • Warm coat, hat, and gloves during the colder months;
  • Umbrella, rain jacket and/or poncho, rain pants, and rainboots – our markets are open rain or shine;
  • Comfortable footwear: all our shifts will require standing and walking for extended periods, so wear appropriate footwear!
