2020 Local Food Guide Internship:
This internship will be focused on updating Nourish Knoxville’s Local Food Guide, an online and print guide of local food resources in East Tennessee. The print guide comes out in April every year, and Nourish Knoxville updates all listings each winter. 30,000 guides are printed and distributed in over 300 location in 28 counties! Our Local Food Guide is a comprehensive resource for finding locally-grown food in East Tennessee, including farms, u-pick operations, CSA programs, farmers’ markets, grocers & farm stores, restaurants & food trucks, artisanal food producers, and wineries & distilleries. The intern will be responsible for e-mailing and calling producers and business owners to update or create their listing in the guide, then editing the listing and the printed document.
Once the Local Food Guide goes to the printer, the intern will help with outreach to guide distribution areas across East Tennessee. There will be an optional capstone project that focuses on marketing and promotion of the Local Food Guide through our newsletter and social media. The project will be a fun, creative way to end the internship and may include video, interviews, and creative writing. The internship will be unpaid, but with the potential for academic credit with a professor’s approval.
Time commitment: 10-20 hours/week, with the option to work anytime between the hours of 9am and 5pm Monday-Friday.
