Please join Slow Food Tennessee Valley on Tuesday, June 11th at 7:30 pm at Hexagon Brewing Co. for a special screening of the 2017 documentary, “Eating Animals”.
Directed by Christopher Quinn and based on the book by Jonathan Safran Foer, “Eating Animals” starts with a simple question: where do our eggs, dairy and meat come from?
After looking at the answers provided by “massive industrial complexes designed to feed the masses”, as the filmmakers put it, they chose to spend five years following several farmers fighting to bring their trade back to its roots. The resulting film shows both the victories and the despairs of those “toiling in the soil”, both here in the US and across the globe.
Are the practices of the past in fact the only way forward for our food supply? Is continuing to eat animals consistent with the Slow Food principles of good, clean and fair food, particularly as they relate to quality and sustainability? Come join us and decide for yourself.
Note: while the event start time is 7:30 pm; we’re planning to begin the movie around 8:30 pm to give people time to get their dinner & a beverage and get seated. In addition to their usual food, beer and Gypsy Circus Cider Company offerings, Hexagon will also have some vegetarian specials in keeping with the film.
