CAC Beardsley Community Farm is an urban demonstration site that has promoted food security and sustainable urban agriculture through practice, education, and community outreach since 1998. Every year, with the help of over 2,000 volunteers, they donate produce to local hunger-relief organizations and shelters. Beardsley Farm grows over 100 varieties of fruits and vegetables on the farm, and donates over 10,000 pounds of produce annually. Produce donations go to a variety of Knoxville kitchens and pantries, including Mobile Meals, KARM, Global Seeds, and the Family Crisis Center.
To celebrate the mission of Beardsley Farm, Alpha Rho Chi, a professional architecture + allied arts fraternity, will host a Benefit Art Gala on October 13th. Held in Room 103 in the Art + Architecture Building on UT’s campus, students and faculty will showcase art pieces that will be available for bidding. All proceeds from the art gala will benefit the efforts of Beardsley Farm and Alpha Rho Chi.
