$42,000 – $45,000 annually, depending on experience.


Employer-paid health insurance, 2 weeks paid vacation, 11 floating paid holidays, and flextime policy to allow for seasonal workflow.

Required Availability:

This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week, in-person position with limited remote work options available based on season and demonstrated need. The typical work week for this position is Monday through Friday, with occasional nights and weekends. Second Saturdays of each month will be required at the Market Square Farmers’ Market from 8 am – 3 pm for Nourish Kids implementation, as well as Third Thursdays from May through September from 2 – 7 pm. This position will require working from a variety of locations, primarily Nourish Knoxville’s office, but also in both indoor and outdoor public settings, such as farmers’ markets, community events, and conferences. Travel within East Tennessee is required, occasionally on weekends.


Nourish Knoxville, Inc. is seeking a full-time Programs Coordinator to assist with the implementation of nutrition incentive programs at farmers’ markets and farm stores in East TN. The Programs Coordinator works across teams and with community partners to implement Double Up Food Bucks (DUFB), Nourish Kids, and Nourish Moves at participating farmers’ markets and farm direct sites in central East Tennessee and at Nourish Knoxville’s farmers’ markets.

The Programs Coordinator will work directly with regional partners to ensure the ongoing success of DUFB, Nourish Moves, and Nourish Kids, and work with the Markets Team to ensure that DUFB, Nourish Moves, and Nourish Kids are implemented and that existing grant goals are met at Nourish Knoxville’s markets. These programs rely on grant funding, and the Programs Coordinator will ensure the goals of the grants are met both internally and by partner sites.

The Programs Coordinator will work with the Chief Executive Officer to plan and implement outreach, evaluation, and advocacy activities in support of the ongoing success of nutrition incentives, and provide resources, toolkits, and technical assistance to partner sites in East Tennessee. The Programs Coordinator reports to the CEO and works with a small, collaborative team. A successful candidate will enjoy engaging and communicating with diverse audiences and working collaboratively with internal and external teams.

The Programs Coordinator will also work with the Markets Team on the implementation of and data collection for programs at Nourish Knoxville’s farmers’ markets. The Markets Team with Nourish Knoxville is made up of an AmeriCorps VISTA member (volunteer & nonprofit coordination; Nourish Kids in Knox County), a Markets Manager (farm inspections; vendor relations and communications; organization, operation, and evaluation of farmers’ markets), and a Markets Assistant; all of whom report to Nourish Knoxville’s Chief Operating Officer. The Markets team is supported by Knoxville City and Knox County staff, summer Event Interns, as well as volunteers.

Given the nature of this position’s duties/responsibilities, it has been designated as Exempt under the governing Fair Labor Standards Act regulations and, therefore, is not entitled to formal overtime compensation and/or formal compensatory time.

Essential Functions:

Set and carry out project work plans under the supervision of the CEO and COO;

Develop and maintain a strong understanding of the programs offered, how they work, how they are accessed, and what populations and communities they serve;

Work with staff at partner farmers’ markets and farm stores in East TN to maintain and improve SNAP/DUFB programs including training partner market managers; providing outreach materials, supplies, and technical assistance; assisting partners with outreach; recruiting new markets; and ensuring compliance with federal and state policies and regulations;

Serve as the regional DUFB representative with statewide agencies and external partners and contribute to the development and achievement of Double Up Tennessee statewide expansion and strategic objectives;

Work with staff at partner farmers’ markets in East TN to implement Nourish Kids and expand the program to new markets. This includes training partner market managers, assisting with updating the toolkit and creating educational materials, assisting partners with outreach, and updating and providing reporting materials;

Ensure timely and accurate data entry and recordkeeping across all programs;

Work with Nourish staff to implement nutrition incentive programs at Nourish Knoxville’s markets, including on-site staffing for Nourish Kids at Nourish Markets and other programs as needed;

Collect and organize data for each program, internally and externally, including conducting surveys of vendors and participants, and reporting to grant funders;

Work with the CEO to ensure timely payments to farmers, partners, and vendors;

Assist in the creation and implementation of social media campaigns for programs for Nourish Knoxville and partners;

Assist with fundraisers and special events.

Required Qualifications:

2-4 years of project coordination or project management experience, preferably in local food systems, agriculture, food access, public health, nutrition, or food equity. A related university degree is a plus, and a combination of experience and education will be considered;

Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to visit regional partners;

Basic understanding of Microsoft Excel and Word;

Self-motivated and organized, with the ability to work independently to implement the established goals and programs of Nourish Knoxville;

Strong written and oral communication skills;

Positive attitude in all weather conditions;

Ability to work with all types of people – we work with government employees, elected officials, private donors, sponsors, farmers, market vendors, volunteers, and other nonprofits. Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in grant writing and/or reporting;

High level of proficiency using MS Excel;

Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software;

Familiarity with QuickBooks, Canva, Facebook, Instagram, MailChimp, and/or metric-gathering software;

Bilingual (English/Spanish).

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds;

Ability to stand or walk for extended periods;

Ability to bend and lift.

Working Conditions:

Most essential functions will occur in an office setting located in downtown Knoxville, TN, but some will occur at farmers’ markets or events. Temperature and weather conditions may range from below freezing to over 100 degrees Fahrenheit, from full sun to heavy rain.
